Prestige Poly specialises in polyurethane preparation and spray finishing for trade and residential clients across Greater Sydney.

01

Sanding & Surface Preparation

Surface preparation is the foundation of any quality finish. Before any coating is applied, the substrate must be properly cleaned, sanded and profiled to ensure adhesion and a consistent result.

We carry out mechanical and hand sanding appropriate to the material and condition of the surface. This includes removing existing coatings where required, addressing surface defects, and achieving the correct surface profile for the primer or topcoat being applied.

The time spent on preparation directly affects the quality and durability of the finished result. We do not cut corners at this stage.

02

Undercoating & Priming

Primers and undercoats serve several functions: sealing the substrate, promoting adhesion between the surface and topcoat, and building a stable base that reduces the risk of topcoat failure.

We select primers and undercoats appropriate to the substrate — whether MDF, timber, particleboard or other materials — and to the topcoat system being used. Compatibility between products is important, and we work with materials suited to polyurethane finishing systems.

Multiple coats of undercoat may be applied and sanded between coats to achieve the required build and smoothness before the topcoat is applied.

03

Polyurethane Spray Finishing

We apply polyurethane topcoats using professional spray equipment. Spray application allows for an even, controlled coat that is difficult to achieve with brush or roller methods, particularly on flat panel surfaces such as cabinet doors and drawer fronts.

Polyurethane coatings provide a hard-wearing, durable surface suitable for cabinetry and joinery applications. The finish is resistant to moisture, cleaning products and general wear when properly applied over a prepared substrate.

We apply topcoats in a controlled environment to minimise dust contamination and achieve a clean, consistent result across all surfaces.

04

Finish Options: Satin, Matte & Gloss

Polyurethane finishes are available in a range of sheen levels. The choice of sheen affects both the appearance and the practical characteristics of the finished surface.

Matte finishes have a low sheen and tend to show less surface variation and fingerprints. They suit contemporary cabinetry styles where a flat, understated appearance is preferred. Satin finishes sit in the mid-range — they have a soft sheen that is easy to clean and suits a wide range of applications. Gloss finishes have a high reflective sheen and are commonly used on kitchen cabinet doors and furniture where a polished appearance is required.

We can advise on the most appropriate sheen level for your application. The final appearance will also be influenced by the quality of the substrate preparation.

05

Colour Matching & Custom Colours

We can match colours to supplied samples or specifications. If you have an existing colour you need to match — from a paint chip, a manufacturer reference, or a physical sample — we can arrange colour matching through our suppliers.

Custom colours are available for bespoke projects. To arrange colour matching, clients should provide a physical sample or a specific paint reference (such as a Dulux, Taubmans or equivalent code). Colour matching is not exact in all cases, and we will advise on the expected result before proceeding.

We do not hold a standard colour range — all colours are mixed to order based on the client's specification.

06

Cabinetry, Wardrobes, Kitchen Components, Furniture & Custom Joinery

We provide finishing services for a range of items including kitchen cabinet doors and drawer fronts, wardrobe doors and components, bathroom vanity doors, furniture panels, and custom joinery items.

Work is accepted from cabinet makers, builders, joiners and homeowners. Items are typically brought to our workshop near Bankstown, where finishing is carried out in a controlled environment. Workshop visits are by appointment only.

We do not carry out installation, assembly or on-site finishing. Our services are limited to preparation and spray finishing of items delivered to the workshop.
